Jennifer’s Priorities

 Jennifer’s Priorities

Jennifer Williamson knows the very foundation of our democracy is under threat.

From extremists trying to undermine our civil liberties to a President who invites foreign countries to interfere in our elections, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

We need a proven progressive as our next Secretary of State to defend what makes Oregon so special.

We need Jennifer Williamson.

Keep Oregon elections clean, fairand free from foreign tampering

Jennifer Williamson believes nothing is more important right now than safeguarding our democracy.

As Secretary of State, she will fight to make sure every vote is counted and that no one is denied their right to vote.

We can trust Jennifer to make the cybersecurity of our election data and protecting our voter information her top priority.

Demand that corporations follow the rules

As Secretary of State, Jennifer Williamson knows it’s critical to ensure that all corporations fully follow Oregon’s laws and regulations for doing business in our state.

Jennifer will work to expose shell corporations that are trying to dodge their tax obligations and work for a level playing field that fosters the growth of small businesses in our state.

Limit big corporate money in our politics

Right now, Oregon’s election laws allow unlimited contributions from corporations.

Jennifer thinks we must limit the influence major corporations with massive bank accounts can have on our elections. That’s why she supports capping the amount of money big corporations can donate to individual candidates or political committees.

Jennifer Williamson has long pushed to overturn the disastrous Citizens United decision and has always been at the forefront of efforts to make it easier for every eligible Oregonian to vote.

Ensure people of color are fairly represented

Too often, political district lines are drawn in ways that dilute the political power of people of color and minority communities.

Jennifer Williamson knows we must draw fair district lines so everyone’s voice is heard.

It’s time to reflect the growing diversity of Oregon.

Stand up to special interests like the NRA

Limiting corporate money is just one challenge Williamson is ready to confront head-on.

Jennifer knows we also have to rein in the interests of corporate-funded PACs like the NRA.

She will fight to ensure the voices of regular citizens aren’t drowned out.

Hold state agencies accountable for spending our taxes properly

Oregon needs a tough, tenacious watchdog to make sure our tax dollars aren’t wasted.

As Secretary of State, Jennifer Williamson will aggressively audit state agencies to get taxpayers their money’s worth and protect critical services.

Combat climate change by exploring the development of renewable energy projects on our public lands

Jennifer Williamson knows the Oregon Secretary of State plays a critical role in promoting responsible stewardship of our public lands.

Jennifer also knows we all have to consider new and innovative options to address our growing climate crisis. That’s why Jennifer Williamson believes we should explore environmentally responsible options for developing renewable energy projects, where suitable, on some of Oregon’s public lands.

This could be a new path to reduce our carbon emissions and fight climate change while promoting the creation of new, good-paying jobs in parts of our state that need them the most.

Demand full transparency in political ads & lobbying efforts

In Oregon today, it’s too easy to hide exactly who is trying to influence our elections and our legislative process.

Jennifer Williamson will push to require that every Oregon campaign ad discloses who paid for it.

She will also support regulations for new transparency in all lobbying efforts and issue ads to detail which corporations, interest groups, or individuals are funding efforts to pressure public policy.
